An epidemic is raging through America that has completely escaped notice of the Centers for Disease Control.

It’s a plague of addiction to the neurochemical, dopamine, which exists naturally in the brain, and, in healthy amounts supports human survival. However, when a chronic excess of dopamine persists, it could be described as “dopamania”, and presents an extreme risk to society.

Media sources love disasters, of all kinds – weather, transportation, and especially shootings.  Fear and anxiety produce the opioid drug made right between our ears, dopamine.  Heard the term, “news junkie”?  Biochemically similar to amphetamines and cocaine, we get high on media-generated excitement, and just like the street drugs, we continually need a new and bigger fix just to feel the same exhilaration.

Trump Dumps Paris Climate Accord for Dopamine

Leaders of 194 countries, scientists, humanitarians, even Exxon Mobil, BP, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, and Shell back the Paris Climate Accord. The President’s daughter and son-in-law are in favor the 2015 agreement. The Washington Post reports that 71% Americans support remaining in the agreement, and of Trump voters, only 25% oppose the treaty.

In the the British journal, Chronicle of Higher Education, Kevin Dutton  wrote about a study conducted by Jeffrey Zacks and his team at the Dynamic Cognition Laboratory, at Washington University in St. Louis. With the aid of fMRI, Zacks and his co-authors peered deep inside the brains of volunteers as they read stories.
